A very important point. The paper lacks a lot of fine detail as it is a concept paper. User involvement and the mechanisms for engaging the views of others who have experienced the violence would be an essential component. Those who have experienced conflict-related mental health problems, carers, families will all have very important things to say and contribute that will shape and direct an initiative like this. It will also hopefully harness the best of our mental health experience and development in this area for the wider benefit. The key aim is to bring focus to the mental health need and to have the means of equipping those working to support others affected by traumatic events and circumstances with the best skills and support that can be mustered. Thanks again.

I am a direct victim of the conflict having been widowed and raising my children on my own as well as having endured many murders of friends and relatives. I have worked/volunteered in the victims sector for 17 years and in mental health. I am a recently qualified counsellor having worked with people presenting with trauma related issues and come from the BT14 area. I am only too aware of the severe lack of service provision and support for those of us who endure lasting PTSd and complex ptsd and have studied quite a extensively. I would say I know more from being an expert through experience than any book will teach me.

I have noticed nowhere a proposal to put service user involvement at the heart of this service and its delivery. Having been bullied and abused within the mental health arena by so called professionals I am wary of those people taking over for their own egos. I therefore would like to see those of us who have experience and skills and knowledge of trauma and grass roots community backgrounds involved in all aspects of what I believe will be an invaluable service
